I have two ongoing research streams investigating:
1) Ecosystems of resistance to AI
Resistance to artificial intelligence is emerging in workplaces and in the communities that host its physical infrastructure, yet these conflicts are usually studied separately: the former through labour-process analysis and industrial relations, the latter through political ecology and science and technology studies. This project aims to answer two questions: What resistance has emerged in response to the spread of digital ecosystems? How does this resistance relate to the structures of these ecosystems? By building a global datset of resistance to AI, the research will explore how different sites of resistance might be structurally connected in the full circuit of capital, linking struggles in production and social reproduction through the concept of an ecosystem of resistance.

2) Unpaid labour
I continue to study the types of unpaid labour that exist and what new forms are emerging in the context of digitalisation. This includes the method of extraction of unpaid labour and the forms by which it is represented in profit and property. This is what my book Unpaid: the Past, Present and Future of Wage Theft addresses.
